Ponganam Dosa or Pullattu – A Tasty traditional South Indian Breakfast Recipe
Ponganam Dosa (Pullattu) with leftover idli or dosa batter. If the batter is not refrigerated it tends to get sour in a day or two. So it can be converted to Ponganam Dosa as a tasty breakfast.

Ponganam Dosa (Pullattu) Ingredients:
- Dosa Batter – 4 cups
- Onion finely chopped – 1 cup
- Finely chopped Green Chillies – 3 pieces
- Curry leaves finely chopped – 10 leaves
- Salt – 2 tsp
- Pinch of baking soda powder
- Mustard and Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Oil as needed
Ponganam Dosa (Pullattu) Preparation:
Heat the Kadai with oil and add mustard, cumin seeds. Fry them for 1 minute till they crackle.Add curry leaves. Add onions, chilies. Sauté for 5 min. don’t forget to keep the stove on Slow Simmer – Low heat.

- Make sure we turn off the stove and let the fried onions to cool for 10 mins and add that to the batter. Add 2tsp salt and baking soda powder.
- Mix the batter with the added onions. Batter must be of medium consistency not very thin or thick. If needed sprinkle some water.
- Heat the Dosa tawa and pour one ladle full of batter and dab it gently to spread the batter. Add oil to the edges.
- Cook for a while until it is cooked inside. You can flip and cook it for a minute on the inner side as well till it turns brown.To get a crusty dosa, lower the flame and cook for a while.
- Repeat making more Ponganam Dosa on the Tawa.
- Ponganam Dosa (Pullattu) is ready for breakfast. Enjoy…
