Bombay Chutney or Besan Chutney is a South Indian dish and it is famous in Andhra Pradesh. The Bombay Chutney is used to apply on dosa and also served with Puri as part of Breakfast. This Besan Chutney is very easy to prepare and takes less time to prepare. This chutney recipe can also be served with chapati in some parts of India.
Ingredients:
- Besan Flour (Gram Flour) – 1 Cup or 100 grams
- Onions – 1 large piece (make slices)
- Green Chillies – 2
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves.
Bombay Chutney Preparation:
- Take a Kadai and heat it for 2 sec.
- Add oil. After heating the oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, onion slices and green chilies.
- Let the mixture fry till the colour changes to light brown.
- Now take besan in a bowl and add 1/2 cup of water in it and mix well.
- Add this batter to the onions mixture and add 1/2 cup of water and stir the batter without forming lumps.
- Let it boils for a few minutes.
- Turn off the stove and take the chutney into a bowl.
The delicious Besan Chutney is now ready to serve with Dosa or Puri or Chapati!!
In some parts of India, this chutney is known as Bombay Sambar
